How To Build An Aesthetic Matcha Station (13 Great Ways)

This post is all about how to build an aesthetic matcha station.

Like me, you might have a recent obsession with everything matcha. You might also have built a nice little daily routine where you make your favourite matcha latte, and of course, romanticise the whole process.

Many people in this camp have shared their gorgeously curated matcha stations. And I have to say, I very much appreciate all the inspiration.

Why not build, what is effectively, a little shrine for what has now become a much loved daily ritual?

This post is meant to offer you some inspiration and suggestions to help you build a loving shrine for your matcha (or, in more boring terms, a matcha station).

Whether you’ll adorn yours with cute little Smiskis or prefer everything decorated with bows, I’m sure you’ll find at least a few ideas to help you curate your own aesthetic matcha station.

I’ve also included product suggestions if you’d like to shop a similar look.

13 Great Ways to Build an Aesthetic Matcha Station

1. Small Table or Shelf

This one is a must, I feel. You can use a small table or shelf to both organize and display your tools and products.

Showing off your items, rather than locking them away, is vital for an aesthetic matcha station.

Your syrup bottles, matcha powders and whisks all now have a lovely home, and serve you a visual treat. Personally, I prefer a dark wood look, but you could also opt for a lighter finish

2. Minimal Tray for Tools

Add a small wooden tray to your station. This is key since you’ll be able to both display your items and prepare your matcha on the tray.

The odd spill will be much easier to deal with here as well. A cute tray will also make your station look well styled and not cluttered.

3. Cute Drinkware

Your aesthetic matcha station wouldn’t be complete without your favourite drinkware. Those into a cuter aesthetic would appreciate pink bow glasses.

Either way, your favourite glasses and ceramics would look perfect on top of your station shelf or table. You’ll have easy access as well during your daily matcha routine.

4. Utensil Holder or Pot

For your utensils and small matcha tools, a small pot would make a good home.

To allow your bamboo whisk (chasen) to hold its shape, use a ceramic holder. Leave both out, on your station so the whisk can dry in between uses.

5. Decor & Collectibles

Instead of a generic matcha station, add thoughtful personal touches.

Small beloved figurines like Smiskis would look adorable on your station.

Other decor like ribbons or even a small terrarium will add to the curated feel.

6. Scale

To make the perfect matcha a compact scale is needed for accurate measurements.

A precision scale in particular will help you measure your matcha powder.

I had to swap out the scale I was using originally for a more precise one, myself. I found the former wasn’t useful for the tiny grams of powder I needed to calculate.

7. Kettle

If you have a larger budget I would really recommend a temperature controlled kettle. With this you’ll no longer need to worry about potentially scorching the matcha.

A regular electric kettle is fine too, just remember to let your water cool slightly beforehand. Go for a kettle that matches the colour palette to have a harmonious aesthetic matcha station.

8. Mini Fridge

A cute mini fridge is perhaps the loveliest addition for your station.

Store your favourite oat milk and other chilled ingredients like homemade syrups here.

Having these ingredients on hand will make your station more complete and self contained. No more back and forth between your station and the fridge.

9. Rustic Dresser or Drawers Setup

Transform an old dresser into a matcha station by using the surface for tools and decor, and the drawers for storage.

It adds a vintage and appreciated cozy energy. The warm tones of rustic wood could really complement any pops of colour you might implement elsewhere.

10. Corner Countertop Station

If you’re working with a smaller kitchen space, no worries. Build your station on a corner of your countertop.

Create height with taller shelves; this will also help you make use of the smaller space. Stack items on top of each other for better organisation and space maximisation.

11. Wall Art Behind Your Station

A great way to add additional personal touches is through wall art.

Rest a mid sized framed art piece on the wall behind your station.

Or, you could stick a few prints along the wall, creating a gallery wall look. Again, I suggest going for pieces that suit your station’s vibe and colour palette. I do appreciate pops of colour here though.

12. Fresh or Faux Flowers

Who doesn’t love looking at flowers in the morning.

Place a small vase of fresh flowers by your tray to fill empty space and bring life into your station.

The calm from the flowers will make your daily matcha routine much more satisfying and grounding. No shame in going for faux flowers if you’d prefer longevity for your plants.

13. Grid Mug Rack

Display your favourite drinkware with a grid mug rack. The grid set up is the perfect display option to view each of your pieces.

This way, no mug or glass will be forgotten and banished to a dusty corner of your cabinets. I’m sure the easy access will be appreciated on busy mornings, in particular.
