Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen the hype. If you’re into matcha, even just casually, it’s likely you’ve come across the now iconic Blank Street Iced Blueberry Matcha with oat milk. Arguably their most viral drink, it’s the kind of order that feels as pretty as it looks: subtly sweet, pastel green with a lilac swirl, and so ridiculously addictive.
This post is all about how to recreate the Blank Street Blueberry Matcha at home, and save money

Personally, I’m part of the herd. I cannot walk past a Blank Street without feeling a comically insane gravitational pull toward their counter. And honestly? This drink has done more for the matcha movement than anything else. It’s managed to convert even the loudest “matcha tastes like grass” skeptics, and for that, we thank it, of course.
But what if you don’t live near a Blank Street? Or maybe you do, but you’re quite tired of draining your bank account every time the craving hits? We’ve all been there. The cost adds up fast, and sometimes all you want is to enjoy your favourite drink in the comfort of your own cozy corner at home. So that’s where this post comes in. I’ve cracked the copycat code and found a way to recreate the viral Blank Street blueberry matcha at home, on a budget, and with beginner friendly tools. Everything below is based on my own obsessive research (and a fair bit of trial and error). Trust me, I’ve had this drink daily for weeks now, completely guilt free.

What You’ll Need To Recreate Blank Street Blueberry Matcha At Home
Let’s talk about ingredients and tools. You don’t need a professional café setup to make this work. Just a few essentials, all of which you can reuse for countless matcha lattes to come.

Oat Milk (Barista Blend = Better Froth)

The milk is a core part of what makes this drink so creamy and comforting. You’ll want a barista-style oat milk if possible; thicker, silkier, and built to froth beautifully.
Below are some of my Top picks:
Blueberry Syrup
This is the star of the show!! While Blank Street hasn’t officially confirmed what syrup they use, a number of self-proclaimed former employees on TikTok say it’s likely the 1883 Maison Routin Blueberry Syrup.
I’ve tried it, and I can confidently say, it tastes exactly the same. You must get this!

Vanilla Syrup (Optional, but Lovely)
There are whispers that Blank Street adds a small pump of vanilla to their blueberry matcha to mellow it out. It’s subtle, and you can skip it, but it adds a lovely depth if you’re into a softer sweetness. Personally, I prefer my drinks sweeter so I add this often. A little extra sweetness can’t hurt, right?
Try these:
Matcha Powder

There’s talk that Blank Street uses PerfectTed matcha, which is a great option if you’re curious. That said, since this drink has strong syrup and milk components, the exact matcha brand isn’t a make or break detail, in my opinion. What matters most is that it’s vibrant, finely ground, and of good quality, none of that yellow tinged, dull tasting stuff (so definitely check the reviews, before you buy).
Note: Use at least 3g per drink for a rich, saturated flavour.

Matcha Tools

If you’re planning to make matcha regularly (and you probably will), you may want to invest in a few basics:
- Electric Milk Frother – for creamy layering
- Matcha Set (Chawan, Chasen, Scoop, Sifter) – for satisfying and proper prep

How to Make Blank Street’s Blueberry Matcha at Home
Step 1: Prepare Your Matcha
- Measure out 3g of matcha powder (or use 3 scoops with a chashaku).
- Sift it into a bowl to avoid clumps.
- Heat water to about 80°C (176°F), this is important. If the water is too hot, you’ll scorch the matcha and ruin the flavour. Let boiled water sit for 2–3 minutes to cool down if needed.
- Pour ~50ml of the warm water into the matcha.
- Whisk vigorously for 20–30 seconds. If you’re using a bamboo whisk, do quick “M” or zigzag motions until the surface is lightly frothy. If you’re using an electric frother, just blend until smooth.
Step 2: Build the Drink
Now for the fun part!
- Fill your glass with ice. A clear glass is best if you want to see the layers.
- Add 3 pumps (around 30ml) of blueberry syrup.
- Pour in 200ml of your oat milk.
- Add 1–2 pumps of vanilla syrup (optional). You can also froth the milk and vanilla together for extra creaminess.
- Slowly pour the matcha over the milk to create that beautiful layered look.
- Add your straw (reusable, preferably) and give it a gentle swirl.
That’s it! You’ve just made the viral Blank Street drink, from scratch, at home.
Is It Worth It?
Absolutely. Duh!

A single blueberry matcha from Blank Street costs around £4. Making it at home brings that price down to about £1.30–£1.70 per drink, depending on your ingredients. That’s a major win, especially if it becomes a regular part of your routine.
Even better, there’s no waiting in line, no worrying about stock, and no sad feelings when the syrup runs out mid-day. It’s your go to drink, made your way, whenever you want.
Last thoughts…
There’s something really special about building your own rituals at home. This isn’t just a copycat drink, it’s an invitation to pause, play, and treat yourself. Whether you’re making it as a morning boost or a soft Sunday afternoon moment, your kitchen just got a little bit cozier. There’s something really pleasing, and comforting about taking time to make cute, aesthetic and tasty drinks for yourself.
